POSITION TITLE: Campground Nights and Weekend Staff
REPORTING TO: Project Coordinator, Dairy Drive
DURATION: LTE through August 30th, 30 hours a week
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, $22/hour

Summary:
The Campground Nights and Weekend Staff member supports residents of the Dairy Drive sanctioned campground-home to 30 individuals experiencing homelessness-during evening and weekend hours. In this role, you’ll work alongside another team member to keep the space safe, welcoming, and connected. Duties include checking in guests, providing access to essentials, writing incident reports, and walking rounds, all while offering a compassionate presence grounded in harm reduction and trauma-informed care.

We’re looking for someone who cares deeply about housing justice, communicates with empathy, and can navigate complex situations with calm and clarity. Experience with unhoused communities, lived experience of homelessness, or fluency in Spanish or ASL are especially valued. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with one additional person on nights and weekends to provide support for 30 campers living in a city-sanctioned campground for people who are experiencing homelessness. 
  • Support campers by being a friendly ear to listen, keeping the office open for access to the refrigerator and microwave, signing in guests and providing for other basic needs.
  • Perform hourly rounds around the campground, communicate to the rest of the team through the rounds log and write incident reports as needed.
  • Engage in harm reduction conversations with campers as needed.
  • Be available to be schedule for shifts as follows:
    • Monday – Sunday 5pm – 1am
    • Saturday or Sunday – 10am – 5pm or 1pm – 9 pm
    • Hours may vary due to changing needs, positions range from 12 – 30 hours per week as desired.
  • Attend biweekly campground all staff meetings  (Monday 6pm), MSM staff meetings (Thursday 3:30) and one-on-ones with your supervisor
  • Attend all required staff training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for ending homelessness and experience working with people without homes.
  • Good written and verbal non-violent, trauma informed communication skills.
  • Ability to work with clients where they are at and navigate complex conversations, centering on harm reduction and program participant’s needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use creative problem-solving skills to assist persons in personal crises.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with our clients.
  • Ability to follow organizational policies.
  • History of positive working relationships with people of diverse racial/ethnic, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to use Signal (encrypted text messaging), Google Suite and navigate websites/wikis.  Work is almost entirely on-line to reduce paper in the office.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently and with close attention to details.
  • MSW or BSW preferred or at least 1 year of experience working with people experiencing homelessness considered.
  • Lived experience of homelessness, mental health or substance use struggles a plus.
  • Commitment to anti racism
  • Ability to learn sociocracy form of governance
  • Bilingual in Spanish or ASL a plus.
